Set in the world of Shannara which Terry Brooks is famous for, Jair Ohmsford is back with his magical Wishsong power (from The Wishsong of Shannara). Although Jair and his sister Brin were able to destroy the evil book known as the Ildatch, that is not the end of the story. Brin urges her brother not to use the Wishsong. His powers with it cause illusions whereas Brin's causes reailty to change. In destroying the Ildatch Jair was able to make his former mentor weapons master Garet Jax. When the Rets reappear Jair goes off to find out what is causing the uprising up evil again.

Helping him out is Slanter, Whisper, Kimber and Cogline also from the book The Wishsong of Shannara. It seems that evil is trying to resurrect the lost Druid Keep Paranor, little realising it is protected by it's own ancient magic. Will Jair be able to keep his promise to his sister and not resort to using the Wishsong and will he be able to keep them from taking over Paranor.

The story was ok, it was well drawn but it just didn't translate well into a graphic novel. Brooks just narrated it like a novel at the top of most of the panels which defeated the purpose. Stick to the novels.

It sounds like this was adapted into a graphic novel just because they're getting more popular lately... narrating the story at the top of the panels really does defeat the purpose. Might as well just make it an illustrated edition of the book.
