So I went to Tornoto for a week back in June and am finally getting around to putting up some of my photos! It's my birthday on Thursday next week and we are going away on 13th September to New York so please send your recommendations on what to do and where to go my way...

Thephoto below was taken out of my hotel room window when work put me up in a posh place for a couple of nights. After this I stayed in a hostel which was fun but didn't have quite the same impressive views...

A random pole outside the conference centre complete with two woodpeckers sculptured on it.

Toronto's very own Times Square!

Niagra Falls Horseshoe Falls.

Taken from on board The Maid in the Mist boat whilst we were sailing right into the Horseshoe Falls. Very cool but very wet. As you can see they kindly provide you with rain coats/bin bags.

Me after the boat ride a little wet and wind swept standing in front of theAmerican part of the Falls.

Niagra Falls Burger King complete with gargoyles and Frankenstein (you can just see his head o the top right corner of the building).

Another tourist attraction in Niagra with a gothy, vampire feel.

The helicopter the group before me went on. It fleew above the Falls and was fantastic!

Shot from inside the hellicopter looking over the American section of the Falls.

Again taken from the helicopter looking down over the Horseshoe Falls. Beautiful.

One last shot from the helicopter showing the pool and the rapids. You can get a cable car over this portion which I didn't have time to do.

Toronto skyline. It has a little glare from the glass in the bus window, but I like this shot anyway. It is a nice shot of the Toronto tower which I went up the next day.

Taken from the top of the Toronto Tower looking down on the city. I didn't put up the picture of me standing on the glass floor so you can see how far away from the ground you are, but I did stand on it.

I was there during Gay Pride although sadly I missed the parade in the evening due to my flight. This was a guy advertising Trojan condoms and I thought he was the prettiest of the bunch so I got my friend to take a photo of us.

Gay Mounties and the gay brides (stunning drag queens). It was a great atmosphere and everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun.

I bought a lot of books while I was away, so many that I had to buy a second suit case to fit them all in! This is pile one...

This is pile two...

There were a couple more that were for my husband Alex that aren't in the pictures as well.

lol, I'm not surprised you had to get a second bag for books :P There are several that I want to read in those piles.

Awesome pictures. The falls are particularly impressive!

I've never been to New York, so I can't recommend anything, but I learned from Amanda recently that Greenwhich Vllage is a good place to find book bargains. You should drop by her blog if you have the chance, she posts lots of lovely pictures of NY and would surely be able to give you useful tips.

Have a wonderful trip :)

Thanks for stopping by! I'll have to think more about stuff you'd like to do in NYC but off the top of my head...

1) Walk across Brooklyn Bridge for some great views

2) Go to Battery Park and walk along promenade (or Brooklyn Promenade)

3) Been wanting to go here but haven't yet but it might be up your ally (http://www.jekyllpub.com/)

4) View on top of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is great! And they always have fun stuff up there...I think it's Jeff Koons right now..

5) Visit any of the Strands Bookstores

6) Pick up a Time Out NYC for more ideas

7) If you can catch a show at the Bowery Ballroom

8) East Village is always fun to bop around in

9) Check out this blog for book related stuff: http://booksinnewyork.blogspot.com/

Let me know anything else, any questions, or specifics and I'll see if I can help out!

I'm so nosy... I love looking at other people's photos and these were gorgeous. The ones of the falls were fantastic. We went in 1996 and the river at the bottom was frozen so we couldn't go on The Maid of the Mist. It was still amazing though. *Fabulous* book haul. I turn into a crazy person when I go to America and always have to buy another bag to put all the books in. Even when we got to the airport at Newark, to come home, I was still buying books! LOL.

Wow, these pics are awesome! I wish I've the chance to visit Toronto one day... would also love to visit US too! ;)

Of course I understand you'll bring home a bag of books! I know I'd do the same if my husband allows me to do so, haha! The most I bought was three books I think...and our luggage were already full to the brim!

I hope you've a wonderful trip in New York! Can't wait to hear all the details and view the pics from you. :D Happy early birthday to you!!

Wow, I can't believe you went up in the helicopter! you got fantastic pictures, but no way for me.....and the CN Tower? I had a chance once with my cousins to go up, and couldn't. I suffer badly from dizziness in heights....and just pictures through that glass floor make me ill! (My son went up with his dad a few years ago, and I saw the photos). I'm glad you had such a great time, and I love Niagara Falls for the falls! I haven't been in years but have to take my husband who still hasn't seen them, and the kids. As for the books - hee hee that you had to buy another suitcase! I love that!! Hope you come back to Canada again some day and visit Ottawa or Montreal (much closer to us than Toronto), but I'll see you in December anyway. Enjoy your trip to New York City! I have friends who love it, I'll try and get recommendations from them - one thing is, plan on taking taxi cabs everywhere. Very cheap, and very very plentiful - the preferred way of traveling in NYC. There is a good bookstore - I'll try to get the location, and the museum from Night at the Museum is right there (Natural History?) also , one I really want to see since the movie came out!

First--your trip to Toronto looks and sounds awesome!! I went a few weeks ago with my family and saw many of the same sites that you did.

Second, when I tried to link from google reader to the specific post (which is what I always do), there is strange wallpaper that says "this page/domain banned b/c...etc. My computer isn't sensitive, so I'm not sure why it is doing that--but it might be something you want to check into?? None of the posts show, just the pictures from your posts and sidebar. The rest is the strange wallpaper. When I clicked directly to your site I didn't get it. Strange...????

I had the same problem as Trish. It said it was some sort of Imageshack ban. Probably because of the book porn! LOL. Is that where you're storing your photos? Anyway, today it seems to be back to normal.
Love the photos. Can you believe I'm Canadian but I've never been to Toronto or Niagara Falls!?
Have a fabulous time in New York, and Happy Birthday! :)
