Definitely Maybe - Film

Rating : 3.0/5
Genre : Romantic Comedy
Director : Adam Brooks

Will Hayes (the wonderful Ryan Reynolds) is about to be divorced. The highlight of his week are tuesdays and fridays when he gets to pick up his daughter Maya (Abigail Breslin from Little Miss Sunshine) from school. One day however he arrives and they have just had their first sex education class resulting in chaos. She wants to know the story of how he met her mother and after some convincing he tells her.

Turns out there are three woman in the story. Emily (Elizabeth Banks, JD's pregnant girlfriend in Scrubs), April (Isla Fisher) and Summer (Rachel Weisz). Emily is his college sweetheart who he leaves behind to go to New York and work on the Clinton campaign for president. April works as a copy girl there and Summer he meets returning a diary to her for Emily. All three are beautiful and he has feelings for them all for different reasons. The story becomes a love mystery as Maya tries to work out which one is her mother as Will has changed their names in an attempt to get her dad to realise he still lives her mum and doesn't want to get divorced.

It was quite a fun movie. I managed to work out about halfway through who the mother was and who he would end up with which made the second half seem pretty long. Breslin is great as the daughter and Reynolds plays Will very well. Not the best film out there at the moment, but certianly not the worst.

I am looking forward to seeing this one. We almost went to see it yesterday but decided on something else instead.

I've been wondering about this one--thanks for the review! I loved Breslin in Little Miss Sunshine.
