Spiderman 3 - Film

The third installment in the Spiderman series adapted from the Marvel comic books. This tale picks up at the end of Spiderman 2 with Spiderman (Tobey Maguire) facing down the new Green Goblin and best friend Harry (James Franco). Complications arise with the arival of two more super villians. One is Flint Marco (Thomas Haden Church) who becomes the Sandman. He is an escaped criminal trying to steal money to save his sick daughter. Along the way he managed to kill Peter Parker's uncle so of course Spiderman is seeking revenge. Other super villian comes in the form of a rival photographer Eddie Brock (Topher Grace - Eric from That 70s Show). He becomes infected with some black slime to become Venom.

While all this is going on Spiderman also becomes infected with the black slime and has an image transformation to a black Spiderman suit and emo style fringe! He tries to make Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) jealous with Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard) and dances around a lot. Of course MJ gets caught up in the middle of more than one superhero/super villian battle and the race is on for Spiderman to save her.

This film focuses on inner demons and battling against them. To be honest I didn't enjoy it all that much. It was too much storyline packed in to one movie. There was no need for so many villians and I felt that nothing was really looked at in detail. It was good to watch to complete the trio so far, but not one I will be making an effort to watch again.

I actually found myself really enjoying it. I think maybe after all the negatives reviews I kept hearing from online buddies, my expectations were very low. I do know where you are coming from though. There was a lot of material crammed into the movie and it might have been wiser to spread the stories out into future movies.
